G-STAR motion picture sound stage approved by Palm Springs

Check out this Film in Florida article. Extremely impressive for South Florida. G-Star touts itself as the largest film, TV-production, and acting high school in the country AND the only high school in the world with a working motion picture studio on campus.

Phillips honored at Just for Laughs

Dear Carlos,

I wanted to leave you this note, for when you grow up. Director Todd Phillips will receive the Comedy Director of the Year Award at Montreal's 27th Just For Laughs Festival conference says Variety. Todd has given us all endless joy from hits "Old School" and "The Hangover" and we greatly thank him for these films and for what is to come. The Hangover 2 couldn't come soon enough. When Old School came out on DVD, I left it running on my TV all the time. It was Old School 24/7.

Your elder,

Dr. Faggot

Our MWCC Photography

The work of talented Miami filmmaker and photographer, Melanie Bartley, can be seen on our website with the black and white photograph headers. She also brought her camera to the streets and warehouses of Wynwood. Check out the photos here on Flickr.

There's a new way to describe something that is insanely crazy, a cgi-fest, non-stop action: "BAYOTIC". Director Andres Meza-Valdes gave us this great new word upon the release of Transformers 2.

According to Variety, "Transformers 2" maked $87 million domestically in two days. "My Sister's Keeper" is opening tonight. With the death of Michael Jackson, does anyone really want to spend an hour and a half crying more? Still, had no one died this week, would anyone want to cry?

You decide how you'll spend your Friday night, but I suggest you make your night Bayotic.

Michael Jackson Videos

and of course Thriller

Thank You Michael

Much love to the great Michael Jackson for everything you've given us from your music to your personality. The entertainment you've given the world and what you have done for pop culture is undeniable. And we thank you. We'll miss you, King of Pop.

Transformers Smashes Box Office

It's going to be a crazy 5 days for Transformers and Michael Bay will be kickin' it, but where else? South Beach.

Grossing north of $55 million, Paramount's sequel "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" easily scored the best opening day ever for a Wednesday release at the domestic box office. More at Variety.com
And MWCC gives much love to Megan Fox who also sports a Bluetooth in her first scene of the film. It is now officially cool to look like you are talking to yourself.

Miami Filmmaker Kyle Alvarez Wins Big

Miami native writer/director made his feature film debut at this year's CineVegas with his film "Easier with Practice" and won the fest's grand jury prize. Also check out Variety's review of the film.

"Easier with Practice"
In an effort to promote his unpublished novel, Davy Mitchell sets out on a road trip with his younger brother. However, the idealism of being on the road wears off, and it quickly proves to be a lonely and unfulfilling experience for Davy. One night in a motel room, he gets a random phone call from a mysterious woman named Nicole. They start a funny and intimate long distance relationship that leaves Davy happier than he has been in years. Hoping there is more to the relationship then a voice and a phone bill, Davy decides he wants to meet Nicole. Ultimately, he will have to face not only the truth about their relationship but also about himself.

The next time you get pulled over, if the cop is a film fan, you're in the clear PT. 1

Director Jorge Valdes-Iga Transforms MWCC

Director Jorge Valdes-Iga shot a trailer for his upcoming feature this past week at MWCC. We transformed a corner of our office into the set for two days. The remnants of the shoot can still be seen on our walls. Despite Patrick being out of a desk for two days (he now loves his new artwork), it was a successful shoot. Everyone hanging around MWCC pitched in at one point to make it all happen. Jorge spends his time between LA, Mexico and Miami. He is the director of the upcoming horror film Hotel Chelsea.

It's take one for new Miami studio
